The SoftCo Storlife architecture employs a licence-per-machine model: A machine licensed to run SoftCo Storlife Server is identified by its hardware ID (HWID), a unique 'fingerprint' of the machine’s profile based on its serial number and configurations of key hardware components.
You obtain this unique ID by running the HWID generator tool locally on the machine that requires a licence. NB. Machines running client applications that archive, retrieve, and delete data managed by SoftCo Storlife Server must also obtain licences valid for their specific HWIDs.
After you have sent the generated HWIDs for all the machines requiring licences to the SoftCo Storlife email address, you will quickly receive an encrypted licence key that specifies which machines can run SoftCo Storlife components.
The single licence key is administered using the SoftCo Storlife Manager tool, which also provides a table listing machines, their HWIDS, and the storage capacity they can control.
Windows prerequisites - Windows Server 2003 SP2, Windows XP or Windows Vista. Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 is required.
