Storage Functions & Processes
SoftCo Storlife Server manages incoming requests from any application for the storage and retrieval of content and securely archives this information based on Write Once Read Many (WORM) technology across an array of independent magnetic storage devices. Based on the configuration, policies and scheduled tasks by the SoftCo Storlife Manager, SoftCo Storlife Server performs all the required processes to meet the requirements for Single Instance Storage (SIS), information lifecycle management and regulatory compliance. SoftCo Storlife Server performs key functions including the generation and verification of digital fingerprints, content encryption, storage compression and access security. Leveraging the power and capabilities of the market leading relational database management systems (RDBMS) and Wintel based servers, including both 32bit and 64bit systems, SoftCo Storlife delivers linear performance and very high throughput rates for writing and retrieving content from storage devices.
- Securely archives information based on WORM technology
- Stores, locates & retrieves information using a unique “digital fingerprint”
- Verifies content authenticity with a number of hashing algorithms from MD5 and SHA1 to SHA512
- Eliminates content duplication and increases storage efficiency using SIS and server virtualisation technology
- Protects content using FIPS-197(AES) encryption
- Digitally shreds content marked for disposal based on the US Department of Defense (DOD 5220.22M) standard
- Controls user, application, and network access to the management console
